Super Sailor Neptune

Why I made it: Sailor Neptune has been my favorite (along with Venus) since I first watched Sailor Moon back in 1996. I figured that I should probably cosplay her after 15 years of writing fanfics and oggling her beautiful design. This costume was made by Tristine Citrine, and passed on to me by Inara.

Construction: Since Snafu-con 2010, I’ve made some updates to it. Because the costume has taken on some wear and tear over the years, I’ve  had to remake about half of it. The gloves were completely remade, new shoes purchased and colored, a few fix-ups to the inside of the costume, and although I made her star choker for Katsucon ’10, I forgot it for the test shots. The beautiful heart crystal was made by WindoftheStars (but I’ve yet to get photographs with it! For shame!).

Personal thoughts: I love this costume so much, and the wig looks fabulous no matter how much wear it gets. After changing out the shoes and gloves, it’s 100% more comfortable to wear. It was great to have Cyberbird as Uranus, even if we tried to hide the height difference. Thank you to all the SM girls at Katsucon ’10 for bringing together such a fabulous group.
