Ingus Red Mage
Series: Final Fantasy III
Variation: Red Mage
Worn at: Nan Desu Kan 2007
Why I made it: I was inspired to make this after seeing pre-game release artwork, Ingus looked so handsome and noble, character traits I rarely had the opportunity to portray.
Construction: I meant to finish it quickly, but it kept getting delayed or pushed back for another project all summer. The coat was altered from an industrial pattern, and I patterned the vest and ascot myself. The cape was made from a soft moleskin, the bottom triangles from satin. I was lucky to find real leather gloves at a good price, so I opted not to make his metal gauntlets. The wig started as a shoulder-length fluffy wig that I styled using super strong hair gel and a hairdryer on low setting.
Personal thoughts: I feel like a very noble, charismatic boy when I wear this, it’s quite a different experience! My favorite part has to be the green fluorite gemstone on the necklace, I literally went on a scavenger hunt trying to find one just like it, and ended up finding a perfect gemstone replica at an antique shop in Phillipsburg, MT. I lost the hat at the convention, so it seems I won’t be wearing it again.
